It's Transformers 2, at last! I'm told it's somehow even worse than the first one, yet also much louder. Here is the map to the studio: http://luckbat.com/s ubway-map.jpeg Snacks and pizza will be served, to help ease the pain of exposure to Shia Labeouf. Note that this is a Friday night, rather than our usual Saturday. Hope to see you there!

The title pretty much says it all. The RiffTrax team will be riffing a colorized version of "Plan 9 From Outer Space" live from a theater in Nashville. The event will be broadcast to participating theaters all over the country at 8:00pm on Thursday, August 20th. More info on that here: http://www.ncm.com/F athom/Comedy/RiffTra x.aspx Judging from the list, it's screening all over the five boroughs, but I've chosen the Union Square location as our Meetup spot. However, if you'd prefer to attend the screening with your fellow MSTies in New Jersey or The Bronx, you can do that too. http://www.ncm.com/F athom/Upcoming/Locat ions.aspx?eventid=80 5&zip=10003& eventdate=8/20/2009 It looks like there are a bunch of other features thrown in, including live music by Jonathan Coulton, and a secret downloadable short. I urge you to buy your tickets now (they're $14), as they may sell out, this being New York. Hope to see you there! --Mike P.S. The screening itself begins at 8:00, but I've put the start time at 7:00, since we'll probably want to congregate in the theater queue beforehand.

Before Robert Reed played the dad on The Brady Bunch, he was Johnny Randall, a vacationing "teenager" notable for wearing the tightest shirt in cinema history. Reed and his fellow thirtysomething teens end up on an exotic jungle island inhabited by the most horrifying monster of all: a hammy guy in a vandyke and smoking jacket who thinks he's Vincent Price. Will Reed and his gang survive the horrors of Bloodlust? Will we? Fortunately, we've got Mike and the bots to help ease the pain. Also featuring: Uncle Jim's Dairy Farm and the first appearance of Pearl Forrester! It all happens Saturday, June 20th at 7:00pm! Here's a map to the studio, and I look forward to seeing you there!

I think I'd rather sit through a four-hour director's cut of "Pearl Harbor" than watch "Twilight," but it's too late now, because I just scheduled it for Saturday, May 9th. May God have mercy on us all. Map to the location is here: http://www.luckbat.c om/subway-map.jpg Call me at 646-294-5922 if you have any questions. Hope to see you there! --Mike

It's been many months since the last Meetup, but due to major construction at the loft, the delay was unavoidable. And when I say "major construction," I mean that we had no walls or doors. Well, the place is still a mess, with cables dangling from the ceiling and giant slabs of metal littering the floor, but the projector and speakers are set up, and that's all we require! To understand how a movie like "Hobgoblins" could possibly come to exist, it's necessary to take a little trip back to 1987, the year that "Gremlins" came out. Suddenly horror-comedies starring vicious little creatures were all the rage, and a rip-off called "Critters" soon followed. "Critters" didn't make nearly as much money as "Gremlins," but that didn't stop the producers of "Ghoulies," a cut-rate "Gremlins" rip-off featuring creatures coming out of a toilet. Not long after, "Gremlins" rip-off "Munchies" was filmed, on an even lower budget. The parade of increasingly cheap "Gremlins" rip-offs continued for a while (don't get me started on "Kamillions" and "Beasties" ), culminating in "Hobgoblins" : one of the cheapest, most aggressively stupid films ever made. Even Mike and the 'bots have a hard time with this one, going so far as to set up a hotline for viewers traumatized by the film. Needless to say, only MSTies prepared to endure deep hurting should attend this screening. You have been warned. Map to the location is below; call me at 646-294-5922 if you have any questions. Indy's back! And this time, it's personal! Specifically, it's George Lucas' personal quest to ruin every beloved movie series he ever produced. Join us on Saturday, November 22, to watch the Rifftrax team mock Shia LaBeouf, space aliens, sexy Nazi ladies, giant ants, and just generally kick this franchise when it's down. As always, here's the map to the studio: http://ebon.org/imag es/subway-map.jpg Call me at 646-294-5922 if you have any questions. See you on Saturday, and don't forget to RSVP! --Mike

This may be your typical "junkie-prostit ute-turned-nun hooks up with escaped alien slave who looks like Jean Claude Van Damme and goes on the run from Robert Z'Dar and his army of cyborg dinosaur hand puppets" movie, but this one has a twist: half-assed kickboxing. Without that, this movie would surely be terrible! It all happens Saturday, August 9th at 7:00pm, and I use the word "happens" loosely, because nothing actually happens in this movie. If it weren't for the comforting presence of Mike and the 'bots, you'd be feeling like alien slaves yourselves. Special bonus Rifftrax short: "The Trouble With Women" Special bonus food: Pizza, chips and Dr Pepper Special bonus map: http://ebon.org/imag es/subway-map.jpg --Mike

Yeah, I know the risks, scheduling a Meetup on a holiday weekend, but like Harry Connick Jr. says, sometimes you just gotta kick the tires and light the fires, big daddy! Man, that is so true. For those of you too busy with your holiday festivities to attend, my best wishes. For the rest of us, there's "Rifftrax: Independence Day," in which Mike, Bill and Kevin tear the ridiculously stupid "aliens blow up the White House" movie a new one. It all starts Sunday, July 6th at 7pm! Holiday-themed food and drinks will be served! Aliens will be punched in the face! Here is the venerable subway map to guide you. Contact me at 646-294-5922 if you have any questions, and I hope to see you there!

Rifftrax. Giant monster movie. What more do I need to say? Join us next Saturday, May 10th, at 7pm for "Cloverfield," in which New York City's most attractive teenagers are attacked by a monster that we might actually be able to see, if someone would just put the damn camera on a tripod. I'll have more seats by then, I promise. Hope to see you there! --Mike P.S.
